Cornea

In one sentence

The cornea is the transparent front window of the eye, responsible for most of its focusing power.

Why it matters

Laser vision correction works by reshaping corneal tissue — so its thickness and regularity decide who is a safe candidate. A detailed corneal map is the heart of every serious assessment.

When it rules surgery out

Thin or irregular corneas, and conditions such as keratoconus, generally exclude laser surgery. A refusal on corneal grounds protects your sight.
